Muscle Stimulators are used widely in hospitals & clinics.
The are also increasingly used by top athletes.
Muscle stimulators are used to build up muscles, endurance, stamina and treat a wide range of muscle conditions. Athletes use them now instead of cold baths to prevent lactic acid burn after exercise. Skiers, cyclists and marathon runners find them beneficial to reduce fatigue and aches after training and events.
They are also useful for reducing swelling from knocks & sprains. Used to keep muscles in good condition if you cant train for short periods.
Hospitals use them for building up muscles in cases of severe injury. Many people use them during and after treatment for broken limbs. The quickly get you back to peak fitness.
They wont replace training but are a useful aid to keep you in peak condition.
Tommy Prim, Captain of the Team Bianchi Nordic
Cycling Team, says: "Quicker recovery
and relaxation
mean that competition and training can be pursued on a
higher level."
Electronic Muscle Stimulation ( EMS ) gets some bad press if you look around the Internet . This is due to inferior machines being used, trying to get results they have seen in other places. Cheaper machines only use one frequency or an inappropriate frequency for what they are trying to achieve.
Muscles have basically 2 fibre types.
SLOW twitch take their energy from blood and
can be used for long periods. Used for posture and endurance. Fire at frequencies
between 3 and 15 pulses per second
FAST twitch take their energy from local fats, glycogen and tire easily. These are
the ones that ache. They fire at 20 to 40 pulses per second.
SLOW twitch can be stimulated
for long periods, this reduces swelling as it increases blood flow & helps relax
the muscle as it triggers it at a low rate.
FAST twitch must not be stimulated for more than 10 minutes
Depending on level, as they will use their local supply and not function properly until rested.
The Neurotrac stimulators are the latest in technology and physiology, with preset patterns to help you quickly and easily take care of your muscles. With programmed patterns your muscles will be well taken care of. And with the ability to program your own pattern you can set it up to suit your training regime or emulate another one.
